Cedar Rapids schools’ Financial Officer announces retirement

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (KCRG) – The Cedar Rapids School District shared that Chief Financial Officer and District Deputy Karla Hogan is planning to retire.

Hogan has been with the district since 2017.

The district shared she “has been instrumental in maintaining the fiscal health and operational stability of the Cedar Rapids Community School District.”

Superintendent Tawana Lannin said Hogan has been a cornerstone of success.

“Her dedication to transparency and her strategic approach to school finance have left an indelible mark on our community,” she shared in a statement. “While we will miss her expertise on the Executive Leadership Team, we wish her the very best as she moves into this next chapter of her life.”

The district will soon begin a search for a new CFO, with the goal to fill the position by July 2026.

Hogan is assisting with the transition through January 2027.
